Stem Cell Therapy

A Non-Surgical Treatment to Help Your Joints Heal

Stem cell therapy is an innovative treatment for joint pain offered at National Spine & Pain Centers. For many patients, stem cell therapy is a viable alternative to invasive surgery for pain relief. There is a lot of misleading information in the public sphere about what exactly stem cell therapy is, so make sure you get the facts before you decide whether or not this treatment is for you.

Stem cell therapy has proven to be an effective treatment for many conditions, including:

  • Non-Healing Fractures
  • Achilles Tendinitis
  • Wrist, Knee, Elbow, and Ankle Pain
  • Shoulder Pain
  • Arthritis
  • Bursitis
  • Chronic Neck and Back Pain
  • Foot Pain and Plantar Fasciitis
  • Torn Rotator Cuff

National Spine & Pain Centers utilize the Regenexx® Stem Cell Therapy protocol. This method produced the highest concentration of stem cells possible, resulting in faster and more effective healing. All of our centers make use of advanced imaging guidance to ensure that the stem cells are applied to the areas that need them most.

Contact National Spine & Pain Centers today to schedule an appointment with a pain treatment specialist experienced in stem cell therapy.

What Is Stem Cell Therapy?

Stem cells are cells that take on the properties of whatever cells they are surrounded by. For instance, if a patient has osteoarthritis caused by worn down cartilage, supplying the affected joint with stem cells can help the cartilage regrow.

Stem cells are obtained from your own body – usually bone marrow. Since the cells come from you, there is no risk of an adverse reaction when they are injected somewhere else. Once the stem cells are in the injured area, they will get to work healing damaged tissue, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and bones.

What Should I Expect?

Most patients will receive a series of three stem cell injections spaced out between two to five days. The first injection is a pre-injection procedure, wherein a solution of dextrose (simple sugars) is applied to the injured area to prepare it for the stem cells. The next injection is the actual stem cells. This procedure is preceded by an extraction of stem cells from the blood and/or bone marrow. The final injection is a collection of platelet stimulates that will help the stem cells do their work.

Pain relief from stem cell therapy usually occurs very quickly and continues to improve over time. Many patients have been able to prevent or delay the need for surgery with this treatment.
