ASIPP recently awarded 2017 Outstanding State Initiative to Dr. Douglas Wisor, one of NSPC’s leading executive physicians and pain management expert from Richmond, VA center. He received this accolade for demonstrated leadership in the field of Interventional Pain Management including being the CEO of the Virginia chapter of ASIPP and residing Co-Chair of the ASIPP Political Action Committee.
The American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP) is a not-for-profit organization representing interventional pain physicians across the country. The organization has been growing rapidly since 1998 and has had a substantial impact on the practice and advancement of interventional pain medicine.
Dr. Wisor has published articles and lectured nationally on the diagnosis and treatment of various pain syndromes and the future of pain management for patients in the new healthcare era. He developed an expertise in interventional pain management using fluoroscopic (x-ray guided) diagnostic and treatment techniques early in his medical career with the United States Army, where he ultimately served as Major in the Medical Corp and Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Eisenhower Army Medical Center.
His ongoing areas of clinical interest include management of acute and chronic nerve pain, disc injuries, and arthritis of the spine. He is particularly skilled in minimally invasive procedures including neuromodulation with spinal cord stimulation and radiofrequency denervation of arthritic spinal joints.
