Craig L. Shalmi, M.D., of New York Spine & Pain Physicians, an affiliate of National Spine & Pain Centers, believes that the best plan of care is customized to meet each individual patient’s needs. He is an expert in all pain management techniques and has been caring for and healing his patients for over 20 years.
Dr. Shalmi attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City and graduated with distinction for research in Oncology. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Union College and he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in his senior year. In 1989, Dr. Shalmi completed his internship in surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine and went on to Harvard University School of Medicine to complete his residency in anesthesia and critical care. He became interested in pain management during his residency which became his focus during the latter portion of his training. Dr. Shalmi remained at Harvard for fellowship training in Pain Management which he completed in 1997.
Over his professional career, Dr. Shalmi has lectured on and is published in numerous pain management publications and is a member of various professional organizations. He has received board certifications in Anesthesia as well as Pain Management. His clinical expertise encompasses a variety of diagnostic specialties and treatments, including but not limited to: Vertebroplasty/Kyphoplasty, Facet Joint Injections, Epidural Nerve Block, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP therapy), Radiofrequency Neurotomy, SI Joint Injection and Spinal Cord Stimulation.
