This past Tuesday, October 30th, Dr. Daniel Kendall hosted a dinner program for healthcare providers titled “Treating Acute & Chronic Pain Using Interventional Treatments & Opioid Management.”
Discussion topics for this program included,
- Reviewing Interventional Treatment Options for Acute and Chronic Pain
- Understanding the Relationship between Opioids and Non-pharmacological Treatments
- Understanding Pain and Opioid Management and when to refer to a pain specialist
In attendance were 20 providers, including Primary Care Physicians, Family Medicine Specialists and Internists. This year’s program completed a two-part lecture series! In October 2017, Dr. Kendall presented on the newly released CDC Regulations regarding opioid prescribing passed by the Virginia Board of Medicine.
The discussion session was fantastic! Dr. Kendall and Mclean Center Nurse Practitioner, Sharon Simon, received great questions on NSPC’s protocols on prescribing opioids and integrating conservative interventional treatments to help wean patients off opioids. Questions from attending providers sparked an enthusiastic and engaging conversation on how the medical community can collaborate to better educate patients on their treatment options and help reduce opioid usage in Virginia.
This dinner program was generously sponsored by Boston Scientific.
