NSPC’s Dr. Dan Kendall Leads a Lecture on Regulatory Changes in Opioid Prescribing

National Spine & Pain Centers (NSPC) recently hosted a Dinner Program for Health Care Providers on the new CDC Regulations regarding opioid prescribing. Dr. Dan Kendall from our McLean, VA office presented on “Regulatory Changes in Opioid Prescribing”. The program was conducted at the restaurant American Prime, 1420 Spring Hill Rd, Tysons, VA 22102 on October 25, 2017 and was sponsored by Boston Scientific.
Goals of the program were the following:
- Review national and state opioid-related statistics
- Review non-pharmacological treatments for chronic pain
- Discuss non-opioid pharmacological options
- Understand interventional techniques and when to refer to a pain specialist
The program was shared with providers in McLean, VA area. 20 providers ranging from Primary Care/Family Medicine, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Psychiatry attended the program. Dr. Kendall received great questions on the recently passed legislation and Providers commented that they had patients to refer to NSPC.
Dr. Dan Kendall is one of the region’s most proficient physicians in performing fluoroscopic-guided procedures, including epidural nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, intradiscal electrothermal annuloplasty, vertebroplasty, spinal cord stimulation, and non-surgical disc decompression techniques. He has published articles and lectured nationally on a range of interventional pain management topics, including the use of spinal cord stimulation, thermal annuloplasty, and radiofrequency rhizotomy in treating back pain, as well as pharmacological approaches to chronic pain.
