Michelle Reslier is a board certified physician assistant at the National Spine and Pain Centers’ offices in Old Bridge, NJ and Freehold, NJ. She is looking forward to working with Drs. O’Hara and Staats as well as their team to utilize her passion for working with patients.
From a young age, Reslier has enjoyed helping people which led her to the field of medicine. “I became interested in pain management after working in Primary Care. It frustrated me when chronic pain patients did not show progress, and I believed that the practice I worked for should have had a policy to refer them to pain management sooner,” Reslier states.
Already holding a Bachelor of Arts, Reslier’s medical education began when she attended Union County College and earned an Associate in Science as a physical therapy assistant. She has worked as a PTA at various physical therapy and rehabilitation clinics throughout New Jersey. Reslier worked with patients with number of conditions such as joint replacements and spinal cord injuries as well as orthopedic patients that received personalized treatment plans.
Wanting to further her career in medicine, Reslier attending King’s College in PA where she received her Master of Science in physician assistant studies. Working for over 5 years as a physician assistant, Reslier has gained valuable skills and knowledge for her profession. She has performed patient evaluations, facilitated patient education programs, diagnostics and testing for acute and chronic illnesses, as well as all aspects of patient care.
“I develop a patient -provider relationship by listening to the patient before treating them. I listen to them, and their concerns, as I would want to be listened to if I were the patient,” states Reslier. Acting as a liaison between the patient and the doctor, Reslier demonstrates clear communication skills and empathy towards her patients so they receive the quality care they deserve.
Outside of work, Reslier’s interests include long distance bicycling, skiing, hiking, reading, and enjoying time with family and friends. She also tries to take a medical missions trip once a year.
