Megan Kelly is a certified physician assistant in National Spine & Pain Center’s Fredericksburg, VA office, where she works with Dr. Costa G. Soteropoulos conducting new patient evaluations and procedural follow-ups. She also performs trigger point injections and joint injections under ultrasound guidance.
Kelly earned her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Marywood University in Scranton, PA and holds a bachelor’s degree in integrative neuroscience from Binghamton University in Binghamton, NY. Her interest in pursuing a career in the health sciences and medicine was stoked by several of her family members, who are medical professionals.
Prior to joining National Spine & Pain Centers, Kelly worked in emergency and family medicine settings where she came to realize that pain comes in all forms but its effects are generally universal. “Pain affects all aspects of people’s lives,” she said. “And that includes their overall health, because often times we cannot begin to address issues such as hypertension or diabetes until we help patients address their pain, because who wants to get up and exercise when their body hurts?”
Kelly believes that the best way to help her patients recover is to understand what matters most to them in life. “I believe in establishing relationships with my patients and getting to know them and their stories,” Kelly said. “Doing so helps me develop individualized care plans that help them make educated decisions about what is right for them and engages them to be active in their recovery.”
In her free time, Kelly enjoys traveling. She studied in Ireland for six months and has visited many other countries and the majority of the U.S. She also loves playing sports and hanging out with her dog, a boxer puppy.
