Through her experience as a registered nurse in intensive care units, Maria L. Stucke has seen many patients in discomfort and pain. She decided to become a family nurse practitioner focusing on pain management to help improve patients quality of life, prevent surgery for as long as possible and find methods other than medications to manage pain effectively.
Maria joined the National Spine and Pain Centers Fair Oaks office in July 2018 after working for more than two years as a registered nurse in neurotrauma, medical, surgical and cardiac intensive care units at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C.. Her previous work history includes as a travel registered nurse at numerous intensive care units across the country and as a registered nurse at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Virginia.
She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing from Radford University and University of South Alabama respectively.
“I strive to treat patients as if they were my own family,” Maria said. “I try to listen and get to know my patients while staying focused on ways that I can help them.”
Maria takes pleasure in seeing and hearing success stories from patients that now live in reduced or no pain. “I enjoy challenging myself to figure out the solution” to their pain management needs.
Away from the office, Maria can be found in the outdoors including hiking, camping and walking her puppy. She also enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and taking weekend trips.
