Lovika L. Horton is a certified family nurse practitioner in National Spine & Pain Centers Henderson office, where she conducts initial patient assessments, procedure follow-ups and reviews treatment plans with patients.
Horton brings extensive experience in health care to her work at National Spine & Pain Centers, having worked in numerous hospital settings during of her career, including in the critical care unit of Alamance Hospital in 2010 and in the emergency department at Forsyth Hospital in Winston-Salem.
She brings her knowledge of nursing and patient education to National Spine & Pain Centers interdisciplinary team that includes physicians, technicians and other medical personnel. “Our goal is to develop a care plan that is based on the assessment and accurate diagnoses of each patient’s unique situation,” Horton said.
before earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She would later complete her master’s degree in science at Winston Salem State University in Greensboro and earned certification as a family nurse practitioner.
Working in the field of pain management has enabled Horton to develop on-going relationships with her patients and advocate for treatments that can make a significant impact on their quality of life. “It is particularly exciting to see how advances in interventional procedures such as genicular radiofrequency nerve ablation have made such a huge difference for many of our patients who suffer from osteoarthritic knee pain or who still have pain following arthroscopic surgery or knee replacement,” she said.
In her free time, Horton enjoys spending quality time with her family. She additionally enjoys entertainment at the theatre, church and bible study.
