About Leslie S. Foster, D.O.

Dr. Leslie S. Foster brings an extensive knowledge of interventional pain management and rehabilitative medicine to National Spine & Pain Centers’ Hagerstown, MD patients. A decorated retired Army colonel, Dr. Foster is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as pain medicine. He has also trained in medical acupuncture and osteopathic manipulation.

Dr. Foster is a native of Saratoga, NY and earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Siena College in Loudonville, NY before attending the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. After earning his medical degree, he completed his residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC and conducted fellowships in interventional pain anesthesia at Walter Reed and in pediatric rehabilitation at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC.

During the course of his long and illustrious military medical career, Dr. Foster served as the chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitative Services at Walter Reed and was also an assistant professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He has co-authored numerous studies on topics related to pain management and rehabilitation and has lectured extensively on the subject as well.

Dr. Foster earned numerous commendations during his 20-year military career, including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Humanitarian Service Ribbon. In his free time, he supports the activities of his six children and his wife, Melissa Foster, who is a New York Times bestselling romance author.
