Katherine Morgan joined National Spine and Pain Centers in 2014 after graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York, with a bachelor’s degree from the physician assistant program.
Morgan approaches patient care with a firm philosophy. “As a medical provider, I try to provide complete information about a patient’s diagnosis and propose a treatment plan that fits his or her lifestyle,” said Morgan. “In addition, it’s important for me to partner with each patient to identify and accomplish shared goals. Most importantly, I believe that each person deserves to be treated with the same respect and dedication that I would offer a member of my own family.”
While in school, Morgan also worked as a dance instructor and a freelance personal fitness instructor. She uses her fitness expertise to counsel patients about weight loss, diet, physical therapy and fitness—all of which are critical in managing chronic pain. “Many of the pain disorders we treat are related to musculoskeletal conditions that can be improved with fitness and overall wellness,” said Morgan.
During her training, Morgan rotated through clinical settings that gave her experience in areas related to pain management such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, family medicine and emergency medicine.
Morgan specialized in pain management because she felt the specialty enables her to have a major influence on quality of life for patients.
From a young age, Morgan has been playing piano and singing. More recently, she added songwriting to her list of musical interests. She also loves to cook.
