Getting to know her patients and taking the time to hear about their lives is what Ericka Clark CRNP enjoys the most about her job. “The fact that I get to help better the lives of my patients and provide them education and tools to help them meet goals is so rewarding,” she said.
Ericka joined the National Spine and Pain Centers in Glen Burnie in September 2018 after working at Baltimore Washington Medical Center for six years as a pre-operative and operating room nurse. She has also worked as an operating room nurse at the Surgical Center of Greater Annapolis and the University of Maryland Medical Center.
She holds an associate and Master’s degree in nursing from Anne Arundel Community College and Walden University respectively.
Ericka was drawn to the pain management and anesthesiology field because she wanted “to be able to improve the life of those suffering from chronic pain through a multitude of various methods,” she said.
New pharmaceuticals on the horizon that can both help treat and manage chronic pain in a safe and effective manner is an exciting new treatment that Ericka looks to explore at NSPC.
When discussing medication management, Ericka provides education to her patients, discusses their goals and health history to formulate the best individualized treatment plan. “It is vital to patient care to include the patient in all steps of their care and to respect and understand the needs of each patient,” she said.
In her downtime, Ericka likes to explore the outdoors with her family including walking and sightseeing.
