Carly Nola is a certified physician assistant in National Spine & Pain Center’s McLean, VA office where she conducts new patient evaluations and procedural follow-ups. She also performs trigger point injections and joint injections under ultrasound guidance.
Nola earned her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from St. Francis University in Loretto, PA, where she also received her bachelor’s degree in health science. Her interest in medicine began in her high school anatomy class where she found herself fascinated by the way the body functions. Having completed numerous clinical rotations while pursuing her physician assistant degree, she was able to see the true complexity of how the body’s mechanisms respond, especially when dealing with pain.
“Everyone has a different mindset when they are dealing with pain, but regardless of a patient’s age or reason for their pain—whether it be the result of a car accident or a sports injury—the challenge is to achieve a diagnosis and treatment plan that makes them more comfortable and able to get back to their normal routines,” she said.
In her free time, Nola enjoys outdoor pursuits, including hiking and sports. She also looks forward to visits home to her native Pittsburgh to spend time with her family.
