Candace Engle is a certified nurse practitioner in National Spine & Pain Centers Greenville, NC office, where she collaborates with other members of the medical team to conduct patient intake and assessments as well as procedure follow-ups. She also educates patients on their treatment and medication plans.
Prior to earning her master’s degree and certification as a nurse practitioner, Engle worked as a registered nurse in numerous settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, as a traveling nurse and with hospice. In each of those situations, she witnessed how pain impacts patients and those who love them, especially their family and friends. “Pain has a way of controlling people’s lives, and I want to help my patients regain control of how they live,” she said.
Engle earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY before completing her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, CO. She is certified as a nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
“I work for the patient,” Engle said. “I’m a big fan of different treatment options, including exercise, physical therapy, chiropractic therapy, injections, yoga and prayer or meditation. I want to use all the tools at our disposal to help patients regain their quality of life.”
In her free time, Engle enjoys spending time with her husband, son and two pit bulls and likes going to the beach and hiking. Born and raised in Kentucky, she is a big fan of the U.K. Wildcats.
