About

Primary Specialties: Pain Management, Pain Medicine (Board Certified)

Dr. Yeshvant Ashok Navalgund has always been drawn to new, innovative technology. Driven to become a doctor, he chose the pain management speciality because the field consistently creates cutting edge technology to help treat patients. “It was a natural fit,” he said.

With more than 15 years experience in the field, Dr. Navalgund brought his vast knowledge to the National Spine and Pain Centers as director of physician education and a physician liaison in September 2021. He previously served as president, CEO and co-founder of DNA Advanced Pain Treatment Center and president and CEO of Pavillon X, a medical and surgical training facility, both in Pittsburgh, PA. He also serves as medical director and board member for the National Bioskills Laboratories based in Pennsylvania, California and Texas.

Dr. Navalgund has spent many years in academia including as an assistant professor at West Virginia University. He co-founded the Pennsylvania Pain Society, serving as their president for two years and was named to their board of directors this year. He is also sought after for consulting work as a lecturer and instructor for pain management technologies and techniques.

Earning a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Navalgund completed his doctoral degree at Saba University School of Medicine in the Netherlands-Antilles.

His professional training included a general surgery internship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, an anesthesiology residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Mercy Hospital and an interventional pain management fellowship at West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown.

Dr. Navalgund believes a patient should always be the center of care. “It is the role of doctors and the support staff to facilitate care around the patient,” he said. “...Every day I learn from my patients through their experiences and through that, I learn to be a better person as a whole.”

When developing individual treatment plans, Dr. Navalgund notes medication management has and will always be one aspect of managing pain. “There is no single path to adequate pain management,” he said. “The combination of medication management, interventional therapy and behavioral changes leads to success in pain management.”

When Dr. Navalgund is away from the office, his mind is still dedicated to his craft. He enjoys building new and innovative technologies that aide in improving physician education.
