Dr. Protopapas joined National Spine & Pain Centers in 2006 with an exceptionally skilled medical background. Her advanced training includes specialized fellowships in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and Pain Management at Harvard Medical School-Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Dr. Protopapas also holds a degree in Clinical Acupuncture from Harvard Medical School.

A published author on various rehabilitation and pain management topics, Dr. Protopapas has also served as a guest lecturer in Harvard’s continuing medical education program. Specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic musculoskeletal and spinal pain, she uses a range of sophisticated, non-surgical treatments to provide pain relief for her patients. Her expertise in innovative and fluoroscopic (x-ray) guided therapies includes trigger point injections, epidural nerve blocks, facet joint injections, discography, spinal cord stimulation trials, sympathetic blocks, and radiofrequency denervation.

Dr. Protopapas is diligent and thoughtful in the practice of her profession. With an unwavering focus on quality of care, she takes an individualized and comprehensive approach with each patient.

Dr. Protopapas earned her medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She served as Chief Resident during her residency and completed specialized fellowship training at Harvard Medical School/Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. She is Board-certified in both Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and a Diplomat of both the American Academy of Pain Management and the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. Her active memberships include the American Society of Interventional Pain Management, International Spine Intervention Society, Virginia Medical Society, and American Osteopathic Association.

Fluent in Greek and Spanish, Dr. Protopapas is also proficient in American Sign Language and enjoys traveling, reading, and dancing.
