About

Primary Specialty: Osteopathic Medicine (Board Certified)

Dr. Issachar Devine’s journey into interventional pain medicine was a natural evolution of his passion for hands-on problem-solving.

As an osteopathic physician, he initially used manual techniques to address pain and dysfunction which later led him through training in general surgery before ultimately specializing in interventional pain management.

“Pain management is a rapidly evolving field, offering cutting-edge advancements that allow physicians to provide innovative solutions for both common and complex pain conditions,” he said. “Chronic pain can be physically and emotionally debilitating, and my greatest reward is seeing the relief and happiness on a patient’s face when their pain is alleviated.”

Before joining the National Spine and Pain Centers, Dr. Devine’s professional history included working as an osteopathic physician for more than seven years at several facilities in Florida.

He earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and master’s degree in biomedical sciences from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. His Bachelor of Sciences degree was completed in finance and management information systems at LaSalle University, all in Philadelphia, PA. He finished a residency at Hackensack Meridian Health Palisades Medical Center in New Jersey and two fellowships with a focus on interventional pain and spine at Pain Resource Network in Florida.

Dr. Devine specializes in kyphoplasty, intracept procedures, and regenerative treatments such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy and viadisc.

“These innovative treatments offer promising solutions for chronic pain and degenerative conditions,” he said. “Additionally, I am passionate about helping patients with osteoporosis to prevent compression fractures and improve long-term spinal health. I also incorporate fluoroscopy and ultrasound-guided treatments to enhance precision in pain management procedures and utilize Botox therapy for migraines and spasticity to improve patients’ quality of life.”

Having trained in an area where pain and addiction were prevalent, Dr. Devine has developed a balanced, patient-centered approach to pain management. “My goal is not just to manage pain — but to resolve it whenever possible. I view pain management as a spectrum.”

He takes a stepwise approach starting with conservative therapies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, osteopathic manipulation, manual therapy, topical and over-the-counter medications. Next he goes to minimally invasive interventions including ultrasound- and fluoroscopy-guided injections, regenerative medicine (PRP, Viadisc), and radiofrequency ablation. Surgical options are the last step reserved as a last resort after exhausting all other treatment avenues.

“I emphasize a multidisciplinary approach, incorporating therapy, psychological support, and wellness strategies to help patients regain a balanced, pain-free life,” he said. “I believe that trust and communication form the foundation of an effective doctor-patient relationship. Some patients build trust quickly, while others take time, and I make it a priority to create an environment where patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their treatment plans.”

Dr. Devine’s approach to patient-centered care is to educate patients on their condition and available treatment options, empower them to make informed decisions about their care and collaborate with other specialists to ensure comprehensive, team-based treatment.

“Ultimately, my goal is to guide patients toward long-term pain relief and improved quality of life through personalized and compassionate care,” he said.

Dr. Devine is driven by the ability to solve complex pain problems and improve my patients’ quality of life. “Pain can be debilitating and discouraging, and I take pride in helping patients regain their function and well-being,” he said. “I enjoy the problem solving aspect of pain management — each case is like a puzzle, and I am dedicated to finding the most effective solutions. Additionally, I enjoy teaching and mentoring, encouraging trainees to think critically and develop a solution-oriented mindset in patient care.”

Outside of work, Dr. Devine enjoys basketball, technology, singing, and dancing. He can also be found spending time outdoors including hiking, going to the beach, and staying active.
